“Nuefs for Oklahoma, Autumn”
Basketball

The pattern on this basketball commemorates the work of Cheyenne-Arapaho artist Edgar Heap of Birds. It is inspired by a series of paintings titled Neufs for Oklahoma, Autumn (2025) and is featured as a large-scale installation on two painted basketball half courts located outside of the Oklahoma Contemporary, in Oklahoma City, facilitated by Project Backboard. Following our MoMA Design Store release of the Neufs for Hawaii basketball, the second coming of the Heap of Birds ball reflects the artwork on the two painted courts, and is available exclusively at the Oklahoma Contemporary. Designed and produced by Kindred Studio on the occasion of the Heap of Birds’s major solo retrospective, Honor Song, which opened at the museum in May 2025, this ball commemorates the moment and allows users to engage with the artist's work in a fun and different way.
